Strandly vs Square Appointments
Appointment scheduling within Square’s payments and business software ecosystem.
The short version
Square is worth considering when a free starting plan, payment hardware or retail matters most. Strandly puts client formulas, consultation terms and visit continuity at the center of its workflow. Try the tasks you need in each product before comparing subscriptions alone.

|---|---|---|
| Subscription | $29/month per stylist | Free: $0; Plus: $49/month; Premium: $149/month |
| Priced per | Per stylist: one is $29; three are $87/month | Paid plan fees apply per location |
| Commission / new-client fees | No Strandly marketplace or service commission | No marketplace acquisition fee listed in the appointments pricing table |
| Card processing | Stripe card processing fees apply separately; check your connected account’s rates | Rates vary by plan and payment method; hardware and some services cost extra |
| Free trial | 30 days, no card required | Free plan available; confirm paid-plan trial terms |

Where Square Appointments shines
- A $0 subscription option and integrated payment hardware.
- Broader retail, staff and business tools; availability and charges depend on the plan.
Where Strandly is different
- Strandly costs $29 per stylist after its trial and has no permanent free plan or card-reader integration.
- Its dated formula history and consultation agreement are part of a focused visit workflow. This is a product focus, not a claim that Square lacks client records.
What Strandly does not include
- Waitlist notifications are sent by staff; automatic matching and offers are not included.
- Consultation quotes support a specific visit; general intake forms and signed waivers are not included.
- The full appointment duration is reserved. Booking another client inside processing time and two-way external calendar sync are not supported.
- Tap to Pay, card-reader hardware, payroll, inventory and memberships are not included.
- History import supports notes, formulas and past visits. Photos transfer separately; a complete client-history export is not yet available.

Frequently asked
Does a free subscription mean free payment processing?
No. Square’s Free plan still has payment processing charges. Compare your transaction mix and any hardware or paid services as well as the subscription.
